Nothing to see here, just a bunch of bold bitches swapping notes and killing the game.

On this team, nobody’s a benchwarmer

Structured online weekly sessions with a small cohort gives you the space to ask for feedback, workshop ideas, or just throw literary spaghetti against the wall.

And because inspiration doesn’t just strike within office hours, each cohort has a personal WhatsApp group to spitball ideas or share your work for feedback any time that strikes your fancy.

Being a lone wolf in the writing world is great, if you don’t ever actually want to finish anything.

Community gets you there faster, and I promise it’s more fun.

“I was looking for a space to share my writing that would also hold me accountable. What I found was much more than that: a group of supportive women that are there to guide you as we all take steps (and stumbles) towards our goals.

Constructive feedback always feels like it is coming from an honest yet kind, well-intentioned place, and it leaves me inspired to write more. Somehow, Danielle was able to create a dynamic that is as relaxed and fun as it is focused and productive.”

Membership for the 3-month program: $295 if paid in full (save $80), or three monthly payments of $125

We’re here to make showing up such a good time, it’s contagious.

Here’s what it looks like to join

1. After you become a card-carrying member of the Collective (just kidding, there’s no physical card, but omg we should totes get cards!) you’ll get access to a guide on how to give constructive, supportive feedback. This helps both sharpen your own editorial skills and keeps the Collective an encouraging environment.

2. Join us on Zoom every Wednesday from 2-3:30 p.m. EST starting April 1 for a 90-minute feedback session hosted by yours truly. You’ll be added to your cohort’s WhatsApp group, where you can post questions or share something for feedback from other cohort members at any time.

3. Got writing that you want to submit for feedback at a Wednesday session? Just email it over as a Google Doc at least 24 hours beforehand (max 1,000 word limit). All of the writing for that week’s feedback session will be sent out to the cohort the day beforehand, so that everyone has a chance to read it before the call if wanted. There’s no extra homework though, you can also just wait and listen to the pieces on the call!

4. Rinse and repeat.

Did somebody really describe women as entering the room “nipples first?”
(And other FAQ’s)

  • Unfortunately, yes. And while misogyny is a rancid cologne, out of the  darkness, there is a light. Please see origin story of this writer's group.

  • Yes! The feedback session will take place from 2-3:30 p.m. EST, but it’s all online so you’re welcome to join from wherever you are.

  • Any and all types of writing are welcome, and I mean all. Bring your tired, your weary, your poor, your nonfiction, your poetry, your magical realism vignettes to our humble doors. Not sure your style? Come freestyle for a bit and try out different genres.

  • We don’t care how many fancy things you’ve done — whether you’re on Oprah’s book club list (which, fuck yeah, go you!!), or you don’t have a single byline to your name. There’s a seat for you at the table.

  • Absolutely. When you join you’ll get a guide on how to give constructive feedback. All of the calls are hosted by yours truly, and I’ll help teach you how to critique your peers’ work and make sure it’s a positive environment — we’re here to make each other better writers. That doesn’t mean sugarcoating everything, it means giving feedback in a supportive, constructive manner.

  • No problem, come along and give feedback on others’ work, you can learn just as much from critiquing others' writing. And you’ll find that it strengthens your own work.

  • Nope! All of the calls are optional, so you’re more than welcome to skip a couple weeks if you’re busy, and come join us when you’re ready.

I’ll send you the writing that will be in the feedback session a day before the call, because some people like to review it in advance. But that’s not necessary at all, you can just read the work and give your feedback all during the call itself. You’ve got enough on your plate as is, we’re here to make your life easier, not harder!
